Late explosion powers Tech to series sweep of New Mexico

Tech baseball opens series with 16-6 loss to Oklahoma State

  • April 25, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Big 12 frustrations continued for Texas Tech baseball (22-20, 6-13 Big 12), who opened this weekend’s series with a 16-6 loss to Oklahoma State. Because of the run-rule, the game ended after seven innings of play.

The Red Raiders trailed 1-0 in the first until Logan Hughes doubled to deep left, with a hit that was just a few feet short of being a home run. Connor Shouse was able to come in all the way from first and tie up the game.

The Cowboys blew the game open in the top of the third, when they already entered the inning with a 3-1 lead, and exploded for nine innings which included a three-RBI home run from Sebastian Norman followed by a grand slam from Aidan Meola.

While Johnny Lowe (1-1) was credited the loss, it was Connor Mohan who allowed nine runs during his 2/3rd innings on the plate.

Tech will try to even up the series Saturday. First pitch set for 1 p.m.
