A Texas chain is hoping to make San Antonio’s brunch scene a little sunnier. The Toasted Yolk Cafe is opening its first Alamo City restaurant on November 10 at 911 North Hunt Ln. #108, bringing comfort classics like club sandwiches, chicken fried steak and eggs, and stuffed breakfast burritos to the Northwest Side.
Entrepreneurs Chris Milton and Mathew DeMott opened the first Toasted Yolk in Houston in 2010, bored with a breakfast landscape dominated by corporate players like IHOP and Denny’s. Similar to other trendy franchises such as Snooze and Another Broken Egg, they sought a more lively bar-like atmosphere, while still catering to guests of all ages.
The menu mostly riffs Southern fare with dishes like Cajun-style shrimp and grits, brisket and egg tacos, and an Arnold (the eatery’s joking name for eggs Benedict) topped with chicken tenders and country sausage gravy. Lunch options are simpler with sandwiches, burgers, and several salads.

Guests can also toast the weekend (or weekday, whatevs) with a full bar of signature brunch cocktails, including the gin-based Rise ‘N’ Shine Punch, Palomas, Moscow Mules, and Margaritas. A curated list of wines, beers, and espresso drinks rounds off the beverage offerings.
The new San Antonio café will be owned and operated by Texas natives Randy and Sandy Craft. Although new to the restaurant business, they do have franchise expertise and currently manage two childcare franchises.
Before the official opening, the Crafts are hosting two VIP charity events between 8 am and noon on November 7 and 8. Guests will receive a complimentary meal, but are encouraged to donate to the featured local charities, Communities in Schools of San Antonio and Soldiers’ Angels. After the two soft-opening services, The Toasted Yolk will be open daily from 7 am-3 pm.
