EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — BTS concertgoers traveling to El Paso said their plans have been thrown into chaos after hotel reservations were unexpectedly canceled and later reinstated, sometimes only after guests rebooked at far higher prices.
Several visitors have raised complaints involving La Quinta locations in El Paso, including the one on Remcon Circle in West El Paso, after receiving cancellation emails that cited “maintenance issues.”
Monica Castro said her reservation was canceled and then relisted at triple the price.
Castro said she only got her room reinstated after rebooking at the higher rate.
“I let them know that was unfair because I already had my reservation,” Castro said.
Castro said she later found the same rooms still available, but at a much higher price, and felt forced to rebook out of fear of losing her stay.
Castro said prices jumped from about $300 to more than $1,400.
“I went ahead and booked through a third party, and they had the room, so I said, let’s go ahead and reserve it just in case we can’t find anything else,” Castro said.
Castro said she never received a cancellation notice and called the hotel herself for days out of concern.

Castro said the hotel told her the reservation was canceled through Booking.com, but Booking.com said all parties would have received a cancellation notice, leaving her worried she could have arrived in El Paso with no room.
“For a king-size room, $1,400, which was way too much and over my limit,” Castro said.
Days after rebooking, Castro said she received another message restoring her original reservation.
“They went ahead and rebooked my room, and I don’t know what to do. I have a booking here and there,” Castro said.
Castro said the situation has left travelers uncertain as they try to lock in lodging for the concert weekend.
“It’s really hard to give that room to someone else with everything that is going on with the cancellations and the price gauging of all the hotels,” Castro said.
According to La Quinta’s website, reservations can be changed or canceled after booking.
La Quinta was contacted for comment, and a response is pending.
