BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — A woman was arrested in connection to an illegal gambling bust just last month in which deputies uncovered dozens of gambling machines and arrested multiple workers.
Carrie Vera Gutierrez, 48, faces charges of keeping a gambling place, gambling promotion, possession of gambling equipment, and engaging in organized criminal activity, according to an arrest affidavit.
According to the affidavit, on March 31, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Organized Crime Division executed a search warrant at a business known as “Blessed Sweepstakes” in the 400 block of West Hildebrand Avenue.
Our cameras captured exclusive video days before deputies shut it down. During the search, deputies seized approximately 50 video slot machines, $5,445 in cash, and other gambling equipment and paraphernalia, court records show.

Investigators say the business paid out winnings in cash at amounts exceeding the bets placed which they say is consistent with illegal gambling operations.
Gutierrez was identified as the owner and operator of the business through multiple sources, including the confirmed workers who were arrested at the establishment during the search. Anthony Vera, 51, Alissa Arenas, 23, and Kambry Ybarra, 27 were arrested and several others cited.
