Massive search ends with missing man, 93, found safe in Dallas County

DALLAS COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – A massive search and rescue operation for a missing 93-year-old man has come to a happy ending.

Montgomery Fire/Rescue dispatched units to help the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and the Dallas County EMA Saturday.

When MFR units arrived, they found a large-scale, multi-agency search involving Prattville Fire/Rescue, ALEA air and ground units, Dallas County volunteer fire departments, Dallas County EMA, Central Alabama K9, and several other partner agencies, already underway for the elderly man.

The man, whose name was not released, hadn’t been seen since Friday. His dog returned home alone, though, giving responders an important clue and adding urgency to expand the search area.

Teams fanned out by ground and air to cover a wide area and ultimately located the victim.

MFR reported he was “alert and oriented” when he was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
