EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — After opening their first location in far East El Paso just a few weeks ago, the owner of Slim Chickens said he’s planning to open five more restaurants in the Sun City.
Slim Chickens, as the name implies, is a restaurant specializing in chicken, specifically chicken tenders. Additionally, the restaurant also has wings, sandwiches, tender mac bowls (chicken tenders with mac and cheese), chicken and waffles, salads and dessert jars.

Dennis Ekstrom, owner of Slim Chickens in El Paso, describes the food as “simple and fun,” and said that the restaurant is a “home down and stress free” environment.
“There’s a lot of great tenders out there in this world, but they don’t stand up to ours,” Esktrom said.
The first Slim Chickens location in El Paso was opened on April 13 on 3152 N Zaragoza Rd. The chain restaurant has over 200 locations nationwide, mainly in the south but rapidly increasing westward.
“I love El Paso. I’ve done many businesses in the past in El Paso…It’s a great place to do business. The employee base, the market, the population, it’s just perfect for Slim Chickens and what we’re doing here,” Esktrom said.
Slim Chickens does have locations in New Mexico, but none in Las Cruces. With the new locations, each restaurant will hire up to 100 employees.
“El Paso, I know words are just words, but please come and try us. We look forward to you giving us the chance to serve you now and in the future for many years to come. You won’t regret it and we’re very grateful to have you come and try us,” Esktrom said.
