The Spurs have a chance to take firm control of their first-round series today as they face the Trail Blazers in Game 4 with a 2-1 lead. San Antonio impressed in Friday night’s 120-108 win, pulling away in the 4th quarter after holding just a one-point lead entering the final frame. Even without Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs showed their depth and poise, putting together one of their best team performances of the postseason so far.
That said, Wembanyama remains the biggest question heading into today’s game. The French phenom took part in shootaround before Game 3 but was not cleared to play as he continues to work through the NBA’s concussion protocol. He is officially listed as questionable today, and all signs suggest he wants to be back on the floor as soon as possible. In his absence, Stephon Castle stepped up with 33 points while rookie Dylan Harper added 27, with three more Spurs finishing in double figures. San Antonio enters Game 4 as a 5.5-point road favorite, and whether Wemby plays or not, the Spurs have a golden opportunity to head home with a commanding 3-1 series lead.
