BJ’s Wholesale Club is preparing to open its first membership warehouse in Fort Worth at 7241 Harris Parkway as part of a broader expansion into Texas. The Massachusetts-based retailer, which officially launched its first Dallas-Fort Worth area store in Forney on April 24, 2026, aims to compete directly with Costco and Sam’s Club.
The new 100,000-square-foot facility is located off Chisholm Trail Parkway and features approximately 7,000 items, including fresh produce, apparel, and electronics. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the company is offering members a promotional gas price of $2 per gallon on April 29 to celebrate the expansion.
Kirk Saville, chief communications officer for BJ’s, noted during a store tour that the company was founded in the 1980s with a primary focus on the East Coast. The chain currently operates 264 clubs and plans to establish 25 to 30 additional locations by 2027, including upcoming sites in Waxahachie, Grand Prairie, and Mesquite.
“I mean, everybody knows what wholesale clubs are,” said Kirk Saville, chief communications officer for BJ’s. “But then when they start learning about the value we offer, I think that’s what gets people coming back … Our produce is exceptionally priced.”
Saville explained that the company differentiates itself by offering smaller packaging options, such as half-gallons of milk and custom deli cuts, rather than strictly bulk quantities. The retailer also utilizes autonomous robots to scan inventory and a mobile app that allows customers to bypass traditional checkout lines.
“So, what we find is that many of our members do their weekly grocery shopping with us,” said Kirk Saville, spokesperson for BJ’s Wholesale Club.
The company confirmed it has hired nearly 100 employees for the Fort Worth location and recently issued a grant to the Tarrant Area Food Bank. While a specific opening date for the Harris Parkway site has not been released, officials stated the doors will open soon.
“We’re driven by a powerful purpose,” said Kirk Saville, Chief Communications Officer. “Our purpose is we take care of the families who depend on us … We’re focused on what we do.”
The warehouse will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. In addition to groceries, the location includes an optical department, a snack shop, and travel services for its members.
