MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) – The Midland Police Department is investigating a shooting near a bar after two people were shot and the Texas Rangers are investigating after an officer fired shots at the suspect.
MPD reported that around 1:21 a.m. on Sunday, officers working off-duty at Fair to Midland in the 1100 block of Tradewinds Boulevard heard shots being fired near the bar.
An investigation found that an altercation happened across the street from the bar and the suspect fire multiple shots, said MPD. The shots hit two victims and the suspect was confronted by officers.
Officers reported the suspect was armed with a handgun and an officer-involved shooting took place. The suspect then was transported to Midland Memorial in critical condition.
The two gunshot victims were taken to Midland Memorial hospital. MPD stated that both victims were treated and released.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the officer-involved shooting.

During the investigation, officers encountered a man armed armed with a handgun, and an officer-involved shooting took place, said MPD.
The suspect then was transported to Midland Memorial in critical condition.
The Texas Rangers are investigating this shooting.
Midland Police also reported that two men with gunshot wounds arrived at Midland Memorial on Sunday morning.
