A new outpost of a beloved chicken chain is coming to a booming Northwest Side neighborhood in San Antonio, but it looks like something else is potentially being pushed out to make room.
According to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration, Chick-fil-A is planning a $4.5 million location on Bandera Road at the intersection with Mystic Park. There aren’t many details laid out by the filing, but it does reveal an address of 8889 Bandera Road, with construction set to begin in November 2027 and wrap up by spring 2028. Additionally, the 5,088 square-foot restaurant will feature a drive-thru and standalone canopies, the filing states.
The new location was filed on April 17, although they’re subject to change, meaning details like the construction timeline and others aren’t set in stone.
However, the address is currently occupied by a Credit Human branch. It’s unclear if that means the location will be closing, but MySA reached out to the credit union for more information. In the past, a few local branches have closed, as a Facebook post from 2024 showed the Vance Jackson location shuttered — plus, MapQuest and Yelp list locations at N Loop 1604, W I-10, NE Loop 410 and Wurzbach Road closed as well.
Meanwhile, the area is buzzing with Chick-fil-A locations already, with one near the Bandera and 1604 H-E-B and one off Huebner and Babcock Roads, among others. But when MySA reached out to Chick-fil-A, a spokesperson declined to give more info, saying they “have no new locations to confirm at this time.”
