A shooting in front of a historic Central Texas barbecue joint has reportedly left multiple people injured and a suspect still at large. The Austin Police Department is investigating the incident that took place in East Austin on Sunday, April 26, KXAN reports. 

According to the local Austin TV news station, APD received multiple 911 calls about shots being fired just before 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at the 2000 block of East 12th Street in Austin. An APD public information officer reportedly told KXAN the shooting happened in front of Sam’s BBQ in East Austin. MySA reached out to the Austin Police Department and Austin-Travis County EMS for comment, but did not hear back before publication. 

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and began treating victims, but the exact number of people injured remains unknown. Police told KXAN that two people were taken to a local hospital.

The suspect allegedly ran away, fleeing the scene in a vehicle, and authorities are trying to find them. Police also confirmed to CBS Austin that this was not an active shooting situation and it was believed to be an isolated incident, meaning there is no threat to the public at this time.
