Police confirmed an 18-year-old man died in a Lubbock hospital on Thursday following a golf cart accident two days prior in north Lubbock.
Officers initially responded to assist EMS at 2nd Street and Avenue K about 9 p.m. April 21, according to a statement from Lubbock police.
Upon arrival, officers located 18-year-old Jonathan Garcia suffering from serious injuries. Garcia was taken by EMS to University Medical Center, where he died on April 23.
Through the initial course of the investigation, police believe Garcia was a front passenger in a golf cart that was traveling north in the 200 block of Avenue K. As the golf cart turned west onto 2nd Street, Garcia fell out.
The driver and second passenger were not injured. Police did not immediately identify those occupants.
Other factors contributing to the crash were not immediately clear as the investigation is ongoing.
