LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Christian University will recognize the 2026 Alumni Awards recipients Friday, May 8, at 11:45 a.m. in the Baker Conference Center on the LCU campus.
The awards honor alumni for professional achievement and service in their communities, churches and professions. Tickets for the luncheon are available at www.lcualumni.com/e/2026-alumni-awards-banquet.
This year’s honorees represent leadership and service across education, business, ministry, medicine and university advancement.
Distinguished Alumnus of the Year – Jimmy Moore, Class of 1992
Jimmy Moore, a 1992 graduate, serves as director of church strengthening and support for The Christian Alliance for Orphans, where he leads efforts to equip churches to engage in adoption, foster care and orphan care ministries through a network of more than 290 partner organizations.
His career includes service as head men’s and women’s basketball coach at the collegiate and high school levels, athletic director at Lubbock Christian University, and multiple leadership roles within Lubbock ISD, where he served as assistant principal, associate principal, principal of both Estacado High School and Dunbar Middle School, and human resources director.
Moore holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from LCU and completed leadership training through Harvard University’s Evolving Principal Leadership Academy.
Young Alumnus of the Year – Matt McCall, Class of 2009
Matt McCall, a 2009 graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration, serves as chief financial officer of American Constructors, an employee-owned construction management firm based in Nashville, Tennessee.
McCall joined the company in 2012 and was appointed CFO in 2015. He has overseen financial operations and played a leadership role in the company’s 2017 transition to an employee stock ownership plan. In 2025, the firm was ranked among the fastest-growing companies in Middle Tennessee by the Nashville Business Journal.
F.W. Mattox Award – Dr. Byron Rogers, Class of 1981, and Karen Rogers, Class of 1982
Dr. Byron Rogers, a 1981 graduate, and Karen Rogers, class of 1982, have been named recipients of the F.W. Mattox Award for service and contributions to the university.
Dr. Rogers served 40 years as a professor and department chair in chemistry and biochemistry, while also contributing as a lecturer in music. Karen Rogers contributed 27 years of service as assistant controller and director of accounting. Both are retiring this year.
K.C. Moser Award – Scott Jarvis, Class of 1987
Scott Jarvis, a 1987 graduate, has served as a youth minister at Woodlawn Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas, and at 3rd & Kilgore Church of Christ in Portales, New Mexico.
He served as an instructor and Bible Chair director at Eastern New Mexico University, where he also served five years as religion department chair. He served 19 years as preaching minister at Garden Ridge Church of Christ in Lewisville, Texas. He has taught at LCU’s Encounter high school camp for more than 20 years and volunteered with the Food 4 Kids program at Lakeland Elementary for 18 years.
Gary & Pat Estep Award – Bryan H. Pruitt, M.D., Class of 1982
Bryan H. Pruitt, a 1982 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, has practiced medicine for more than three decades and is recognized as a leading authority in facial plastic surgery in Dallas.
He earned his M.D. from The University of Texas Medical School, graduating as the highest-ranking student in his class of 215. His post-graduate training includes surgical residencies at UT Southwestern Medical School/Parkland Hospital and Emory University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in facial aesthetic surgery in Miami, Florida.
Pruitt is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has held leadership roles as president of the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Dallas Society of Plastic Surgeons and has participated in medical mission work in Africa and Central America.
