EMORY, Texas (KLTV/Gray News) – A former Texas teacher will spend the rest of his life behind bars following a conviction of child sex crimes over the course of seven years.
Jimmy Lee Hanks, 53, was sentenced on April 23 to life in prison for continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.
Hangs was arrested on Feb. 3, 2025, after reports of child sexual abuse lasting from 2016 to 2023, including children as young as 5 years old.
At the time, he was a teacher for Wills Point Independent School District in Emory. District officials said none of the abuse happened on school property and that he was fired after his arrest.
Hanks pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was found guilty on Thursday and sentenced to life in prison the next day.
