As production commences on the third season of Taylor Sheridan’s “Lioness,” some Fort Worth neighborhoods are primed to make appearances in upcoming episodes of the spy series.
Residents of Berkeley Place and Ryan Place were informed by Paramount Plus and 101 Studios in late September that areas of the neighborhoods would be closed off for “filming activities.”
Brian Rey, key assistant location manager for “Lioness,” thanked residents for their understanding as crews take the opportunity to film in Fort Worth.
“The film community continues to thrive in Texas because of the hospitality of its citizens and the diverse nature of its locations,” he wrote in a letter to Berkeley Place residents.
Starting Oct. 9, less than a mile of Forest Park Boulevard from Park Place Avenue to Park Hill Drive will be closed for night shoots that include a “short burst” of simulated gun fire and additional lighting in the neighborhood to create “moonlight” during the scenes. The primary filming location will be 2236 Hawthorne Ave., according to the letter sent to Berkeley Place residents.
The film set will be closed to the public and scheduling may change, according to the notice.
Estimated hours that Forest Park Boulevard will be closed:
9:30 a.m. Oct. 9 until 1:30 a.m. Oct. 10
1 p.m. Oct. 10 until 7 a.m. Oct. 11
3 p.m. Oct. 15 until 7 a.m. Oct. 16
3 p.m. Oct. 16 until 7 a.m. Oct. 17
3 p.m. Oct. 17 until 7 a.m. Oct. 18
Between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. Oct. 13, sections of Ryan Place Drive and Elizabeth Boulevard will be closed for additional filming, according to the letter sent to Ryan Place residents.
Drivers are permitted the right of way on Ryan Place Drive from West Jasmine to West Roberts streets. Sections from 6th to College avenues on Elizabeth Boulevard will be closed with no parking permitted for the day.
Production companies request that Halloween decorations not be put up on Elizabeth Boulevard or Ryan Place Drive until after Oct. 14, according to the notice.
Fort Worth police officers will be on-site at both neighborhoods to facilitate traffic and ensure safety of the public and crew.
“Lioness” follows CIA operative Joe — played by Academy Award nominee Zoe Saldaña — as she trains and leads female agents to go undercover and assassinate dangerous terrorists. The series also stars Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman.
Filming for the first season took place in Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Paris and Spain before the TV series shifted its primary site to areas around North Texas, including Fort Worth.
Sheridan is building a campus that will be home to the largest production studio in Texas. The move is a boon to an industry that has generated more than 30,000 local jobs, according to the Fort Worth Economic Development Partnership.
For the next 10 years, the state will offer $300 million in film incentives every two years as part of a Texas law approved earlier in the year.
