Ranked fourth in the D1Baseball poll for the third straight week, Texas baseball returns home on Tuesday for a nonconference game against Sam Houston.

For Texas (32-9), this is the second-to-last midweek game on the schedule. The Longhorns are 7-2 in Tuesday games, but have been upset by the likes of Tarleton State and Houston.

Sam Houston arrives in Austin with a 20-24 record. Texas owns an 84-19 lead in its all-time series with the Bearkats.

Texas has already made an early call to the bullpen. After allowing runs to score on a wild pitch and an RBI single, Michael Winter has been pulled with one out in the first inning. Hudson Hamilton will inherit runners on the corners and a 2-0 count to Hunter Alvord.

This marks the second time in UT’s last two midweek games that Winter did not get out of the first inning. Against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on April 14, Winter did not record an out while allowing three hits and four earned runs. Winter’s start against Air Force last week was rained out.
