  • April 29, 2026

HOUSTON – New details have been released in a Tuesday morning shooting in northwest Harris County that investigators say began after two men met to create social media content.

According to a law enforcement briefing, the incident occurred around 11:09 a.m. near Bammel North Houston Road and Kleinbrook Drive when a 911 caller reported he had shot a man who allegedly attempted to rob him.

Authorities said the two individuals had recently met and were traveling together in the shooter’s vehicle after meeting to produce social media content.

“A 911 caller reported that he shot a male who allegedly tried to rob him and we received multiple calls for service about the incident,” said Harris County Sheriff’s Office Major Ben Katrib.

“The two individuals who were recently acquainted had met and they were traveling in the shooter’s vehicle. They met concerning producing social media content,” Major Katrib continued.

During the encounter, investigators said the passenger pulled out a firearm and shot the suspect while still in the vehicle.

The alleged robber suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

“The passenger exited the vehicle, attempted to flee, and he collapsed in the roadway nearby,” Major Katrib said. “The condition of the person who was shot was critical and went into emergency surgery. That’s the last update we have from the hospital.”

The second individual was also taken to a hospital out of an abundance of caution, officials said.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the full circumstances leading up to the shooting.

Detectives are hopeful the cameras on the Tesla will provide a unique perspective of what transpired.

Further details, including potential charges, have not yet been released.

“Once we evaluate all the evidence and finish reviewing video, and we’ll present all the facts to the district attorney’s office. And at that point, they’ll determine whether or not anyone will face charges or will present the case to the grand jury for the decision,” said Major Katrib.
