Texas Department of Public Safety – Loop 1604 Expansion Project
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is announcing a weekend closure on Loop 1604 at Blanco Road.
As part of the Loop 1604 North Expansion Project, TxDOT will require closures for road construction:
Eastbound and westbound Loop 1604 frontage road at Blanco Road
Local destination trips only, no thru traffic approaching Blanco Road
Blanco Road at Loop 1604
Local destination trips only, no thru traffic approaching Loop 1604
This weekend closure will begin 9 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026, until 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026,weather permitting.
DETOUR INFORMATION
Eastbound Loop 1604 Frontage Road Detour
Drivers on the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road will keep left to enter the Blanco Road bypass. Drivers may choose to return to the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road by keeping right or they may enter the eastbound Loop 1604 mainlanes by keeping left.
Drivers exiting the Vineyard Shopping Center onto the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road looking to access eastbound Loop 1604 will follow the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road to the U-turn at Huebner Road, entering the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road.
Westbound Loop 1604 Frontage Road Detour
Drivers on the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road will keep left to enter the Blanco Road bypass. Drivers may choose to return to the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road by keeping right or they may enter the westbound Loop 1604 mainlanes by keeping left.
Northbound Blanco Road Detour
Drivers on the northbound Blanco Road looking to continue through the Loop 1604 interchange will drive south on Blanco Road and then turn right onto Huebner Road. Drivers will follow Huebner Road through the Loop 1604 intersection to Blanco Road.
Southbound Blanco Road Detour
Drivers on the southbound Blanco Road looking to continue through the Loop 1604 interchange will drive north on Blanco Road and then turn left onto Huebner Road. Drivers will follow Huebner Road through the Loop 1604 intersection to Blanco Road.
