A trippy and euphoric spa set for Central Texas has officially revealed new details on its highly anticipated location and opening. Submersive, the world’s first immersive bathhouse that blends art with transformative wellness, announced it will debut its flagship location deep in the heart of Texas next year.
The spa, slated for summer 2027, will be located at 901 Barton Springs Road in downtown Austin. The concept for Submersive came from Meow Wolf co-founder, Corvas Brinkerhoff, who aims to bring a new way of relaxation to the Capital City.

Submersive fuses centuries of hydrotherapy traditions with art installations, cutting-edge technology, and the science of human consciousness to draw people into elevated states of being, according to a release. Brinkerhoff told MySA he drew inspiration for Submersive from his 15 year-career of creating otherworldly experiences at Meow Wolf and visiting Ten Thousand Waves, a Japanese-style bathhouse in Arizona.

“I’ve learned how profoundly impactful rich environments can be on us as participants, and I started to get curious about can that power be leveraged to do more good in the world than an entertainment experience,” Brinkerhoff shared. “Every time I do a contrast therapy circuit, I’d feel at peace, energized, this deep sense of clarity, and I thought, can I create environments that deliver that kind of profound state change, but have the power of these expansive, immersive experiences.”

In a news release, Brinkerhoff said, “Submersive was made for this city and this location, steps from Barton Springs, feels almost destined. We’re bringing something the world has never seen before to the heart of Austin.”
Submersive guests can expect art integrated into steam, mist, saunas, hot baths and cold plunges. Unlike traditional spas, Submersive is using neuroscience-informed sensory designs to “create breathtaking new worlds and experiences optimized not just for relaxation, but for profound and lasting state change.”
The spa will include indoor and outdoor multi-sensory environments with twelve spaces of reinvented bathing methods combined with sophisticated sound systems, lighting systems and video projections. Each room will invoke a different sensory experience where light, sound, and water converge to carry guests beyond relaxation into extraordinary states of connectedness, wonder, euphoria, and transcendence.

“We’re not building a spa. We’re building a portal.” Brinkerhoff emphasized. “The bathhouse has always been a place where people go to reset and reconnect. We’re taking that ancient impulse and giving it the full power of immersive art and modern neuroscience. Every traditional bathing modality, be it dry sauna, steam room, hot baths, or cold plunge … has been reimagined in how it can be profoundly enhanced with the power of immersive design.”
Brinkerhoff also aims to utilize more local artists and musicians to bring the project to life in the heart of the live music capital, sharing that he envisions Submersive hosting members-only events like nighttime events with DJs, late-night parties and more.

Brinkerhoff said the spa will open its first phase next year, but after that, he plans to expand the space to offer more amenities and futuristic experiences for guests. Ahead of its opening, Submersive is inviting the Austin community to join the spa’s founding membership waitlist on its website. Founding members will receive exclusive perks like access to priority reservations, lock-in pricing, members-only events and a chance to shape the spa’s future.
“That’s a reason to sign up now, “Brinkerhoff said. “You get the lock in a huge discount, and then keep that membership price for life,” Brinkerhoff said. “Founding members will also be invited to give us feedback on the experience as we develop it, and get first eyes at it as it’s under development, and so they’re really invited as co-creators on the experience to help us develop and refine what we’re working on.”
The average ticket price for a day pass to Submersive will be $88, with weekends being higher than weekdays. After Austin, Brinkerhoff hopes to build more bathhouses around the world, but for now, he’s “excited to really plant a flag in Austin” and make it the company’s home base.

“I’m just thrilled to be building this in Austin,” Brinkerhoff concluded. “After being here for a couple of years, it’s become so clear to me that this was the perfect place to start this business, so I’m just really grateful to the community of Austin for receiving us with open arms and excited to bring a real Austin icon to the community here [and] to contribute something that I think people are really gonna love.”
