Trust, confidence and independence are the core principles at Steve and Kate Susskind’s original summer camps established in 1980. This means trusting kids to choose their own adventure and make their own camp schedule—bouncing between activities such as building and coding, baking and eating, dancing or sewing—all day long.
And in more ways than that, Steve and Kate’s operate a little differently than most: Instead of a week at a time, parents can purchase individual day passes and attend any time without registering. Just show up, they say. And for any unused passes, you’ll also be refunded at the end of the summer. So plan to come out to this location in Plano or to its Dallas location at The Winston School. Xplor campers can choose from specialty options: robotics, cooking, arts and crafts, math games, dance, STEAM, gymnastics (offerings vary depending on the location) and more themed camps—all of which encourage exploration and creativity.
For your littles about to enter into kindergarten this fall, there’s the Kindergarten Enrichment Camp, which will ultimately help prepare those youngest campers for that sometimes tough, always emotional transition into school. How? By play, of course. They won’t even know they’re actually learning routines, how to collaborate with other campmates, and learning concepts in literacy and math.
Plus, as a special treat during some of the camp days, many locations will take off for field trips—to local museums, aquariums, water parks and other outdoor destinations—making for an even more sensational summer. Learn more
