CARRIZOZO, N.M. – A Lincoln County deputy sheriff is out of a job after he was arrested in a prostitution sting in El Paso.

“Yesterday he went to El Paso Texas on his day off, and got caught up in a prostitution sting, he got arrested,” Lincoln County Sheriff Michael Wood said.

Wood posted a Facebook video announcing the arrest of Michael Gallardo.

Wood said his office will send Gallardo’s information to the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy Board to review his peace officer certification.

“In New Mexico, deputy sheriffs are employed by the county, but they work for the sheriff. Michael doesn’t work for me anymore,” Wood said in the video.

Wood said Gallardo came to his office after working at another agency for 18 years, and had been hired by the Lincoln County a couple of months ago.

KOB 4 reached out to El Paso police for more information about Gallardo’s arrest, but have not heard back.
