ROCKPORT–FULTON, Texas — Rockport and Fulton will host a series of events throughout the week beginning May 3 to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week.
City leaders say the week is an opportunity to recognize tourism’s role in the local economy and the people and places that make the area a popular coastal destination.
“Tourism is a vital part of Rockport–Fulton’s economy,” Vanessa Shrauner, city manager for the City of Rockport, said in a statement. “Visitor spending supports local businesses, creates jobs and contributes to the quality of life our residents enjoy every day.”
Throughout the week, the city will highlight attractions, businesses and experiences that draw visitors to the area.
City officials say tourism plays a key role in supporting small businesses and generating revenue, particularly through the Hotel Occupancy Tax, commonly known as HOT.
In 2025, HOT revenue accounted for 2.51 percent of the city’s total revenue. In 2024, HOT revenue made up 2.9 percent of overall city revenue.
Residents and visitors who are unable to attend events in person can follow along through the city’s social media platforms, where highlights from National Travel and Tourism Week will be shared.
