EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Rain swept through El Paso Friday as crews continued preparations for a major concert weekend at the Sun Bowl, where BTS is scheduled to perform Saturday and Sunday.
Despite the wet and breezy conditions, tents, fixtures and fencing were still being set up around the venue ahead of the expected influx of fans. Fans also lined up throughout the day to pick up merchandise and get a head start on the weekend.
“It’s actually better than being hot. You know, El Paso heat. This is way better,” Pamela said.
Stacey said fans were prepared to deal with the weather. “I mean, there’s ponchos, right? Sweaters, anything we can to cover, but that’s not stopping us from enjoying the show,” she said.
Tens of thousands of fans are expected to pack the Sun Bowl for both nights.
For some fans, the weather did not deter them from coming out days early for a head start.
“BTS is like a big, big part of my life,” Salma said. “The rain is not going to stop me at all.”
“It’s not going to stop anybody,” Jozelynn said.

Fans attending the shows include locals as well as visitors traveling long distances to be in El Paso for the weekend.
“I was born here in El Paso, but I was raised in Juarez, and I currently live on campus. So they’re basically playing in my backyard,” Salma said.
Jozelynn said she traveled in from Louisiana. “We’re originally from Louisiana, and we flew in today actually, not too long ago,” she said.
Erika said she made the trip from Mexico. “It was about eight hours on a road trip, from Monterrey, Mexico,” she said.
UTEP officials said minor weather like Friday’s rain was not impacting operations to get the Sun Bowl ready, and drier conditions are expected by the weekend.
Fans who call themselves “ARMY” said they are still expecting a full show.
“I can’t wait to be around Army and just hearing everyone scream and dance together,” Stacey said.
“We’re going to have the best of the time,” Erika said.
