Canadian rapper and producer Freddie Dredd has called out the House of Blues Houston for allegedly canceling his May 2 show at the last minute.
Freddie Dredd, a prominent underground rapper known for his dark, gritty sound that blends horrorcore, trap and punk, was scheduled to perform on May 2 at the House of Blues in Houston. According to multiple social media posts from the rapper and producer, the venue canceled the show on Wednesday after it had double-booked his show with a private event.
“I’m so sorry to anyone who bought tickets to that show and we are actively looking for a solution on a new venue. F–k you heavily [House of Blues Houston] pieces of s–t. ” I love my fans imma do my best,” Freddie Dredd wrote on X.
Fortunately for Dredd and his Houston fans, the rapper found another venue.
“F the freaking House of Blues Houston for canceling and double booking the show,” Freddie Dredd said to his 1.7 million followers on TikTok. “But guess what? We got a new place at the Bad Astronaut, tickets available now.”
Bad Astronaut is a brewery and venue near downtown that hosts concerts, art shows, and other events at their 36,000-square-foot space. Houston is not renowned as a live music town, but Bad Astronaut is gaining traction as a venue for indie rock, emo music, and punk bands. Recently, acts including California-based pop-punk band No Pressure, the ’90s rap outfit The Pharcyde, and the California rock band Redd Kross all performed at Bad Astronaut in March.
Dredd told fans that despite the cancellation, tickets for the rescheduled show at Bad Astronaut are cheaper than the canceled House of Blues show. On the Tickemaster page for the canceled show, the vendor has notified fans who bought tickets that the show has been canceled by the venue and that they will be refunded.
As of publication, Chron has not heard back from House of Blues Houston and Freddie Dredd for comment.
