A girl who is not enrolled at Warren High School was taken into police custody there Monday morning after being found with weapons on campus, the principal said.

Principal Melissa Hurst said in a letter to parents that the girl entered the main campus doors around 11 a.m., “indicating her intent to register” at the school.

Staff quickly notified administrators and Northside ISD police, who confronted the girl as she attempted to leave. A search revealed the individual was carrying three weapons, Hurst said.

She said the girl  immediately was taken into custody and that “there is no ongoing threat to our students or staff.”

The incident remains under investigation by district police.

“The safety and security of every student and staff member is, and will always remain, our highest priority,” Hurst said. “We train for these situations, and today, those protocols worked effectively. We thank you for your continued support of our school and our security efforts.”
