Early renderings show the 2-million-square-foot global headquarters in Plano’s Legacy District
AT&T just gave the public its first real look at what will eventually be one of the largest corporate campuses in North Texas, and it is not exactly subtle. A sweeping new Plano headquarters plan includes a 2-million-square-foot footprint and a towering blue AT&T-branded structure that looks built to be spotted from just about anywhere in the city.
CEO John Stankey shared the initial renderings on LinkedIn, a first peek at a project that has been quietly building momentum for months.
“One of the defining features will be an iconic tower, a foundational part of the campus, delivering world-class cell coverage to the campus and our new home neighborhood,” said Stankey. “With a globe at the top, it will stand out on the horizon, a symbol both of our headquarters and the advanced connectivity we provide across this country.”
A New Headquarters For A Consolidated Future
AT&T announced in January that it plans to establish its global headquarters at 5400 Legacy Drive, a 54-acre site at the intersection of Parkwood Boulevard and Legacy Drive.
In a message to employees, Stankey outlined a shift designed to bring the company’s Dallas–Fort Worth footprint under one roof, consolidating operations currently spread across Dallas, Plano and Irving.
AT&T told Local Profile that once complete, the campus will serve as its primary headquarters, housing thousands of employees and centralizing key functions in one location.
Legacy District’s Next Chapter
The project sits on the historic EDS campus, a cornerstone of Ross Perot’s original vision for the Legacy area in the 1980s. What was once considered a flagship corporate campus is now set for a multibillion-dollar reinvention.

On Feb. 23, Plano City Council approved an incentive package valued at more than $20 million to help secure the project, which is expected to bring up to 10,000 jobs into the Legacy business corridor.
The agreement is performance-based, tied to redevelopment progress, capital investment and hiring benchmarks.
It includes:
A $10 million redevelopment grant to help transform the aging campus into a modern corporate headquarters
A $10 million job creation incentive, structured at $1,000 per qualifying job
A 25-year tax rebate tied to the new value generated by AT&T’s investment
“This decision reflects Plano’s commitment to safety, quality of life and a collaborative environment where companies and employees thrive,” said Plano Mayor John B. Muns. “We look forward to working alongside AT&T as they grow and succeed in our community.”
From EDS Legacy To AT&T Headquarters
The site’s evolution traces back to one of North Texas’ most ambitious real estate bets. In the 1980s, Ross Perot acquired thousands of acres with the goal of attracting major corporate tenants and building a long-term business hub. That vision came into focus with the opening of the EDS headquarters in 1992.
Now, AT&T is preparing to reshape that foundation for a new era.
“We are excited to build our new global headquarters in such a welcoming community dedicated to positive business growth,” said Michael Ford, head of AT&T global real estate and security. “We look forward to continuing to work closely with Plano city leaders as we execute on our vision for a world-class campus, designed for collaboration, innovation and engagement, that our employees can be proud of for many years to come.”
With renderings now public, the project is moving from concept to visible reality, setting the stage for one of the most closely watched corporate developments in North Texas.
