Update at 7:44 a.m.: Flooding is occurring on multiple highways across the San Antonio area, leading to lane closures and the closure of exit ramps. According to the traffic monitoring site SigAlert, the lower-level exit ramp of I-35 North at Martin Street is closed due to flooding.
High water is also blocking the right lane and the exit ramp on the lower level of I-10 South between Colorado Street (Exit 569) and Frio Street (Exit 569B).
High water is blocking the left lane of the lower level of I-10 North between Colorado Street and Woodlawn Avenue (Exit 567B).
Heavy rain overnight has led to flooding and multiple road closures across the city. According to the Bexar Flood map, at least 30 road closures are being reported across San Antonio on Friday, May 1. The closures are primarily affecting the Northside and Northeast Side. Some have also been reported on the West Side, particularly outside Loop 1604, including the area around Braun Road and Loop 1604.
Transguide cameras show San Antonio police blocking roadways as high water is being reported in the area including at I-35 at Salado Creek. Highway 90 near Cupples Road is also reporting high water on the highway.
Closer to downtown, high water can be seen on I-10 near Colorado. A flash flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service and is in effect for the San Antonio area until 10 a.m.
The storms also led to power outages in San Antonio. As of 6:30 a.m. on Friday, May 1, CPS Energy reported at least 3,887 customers without power. However, as of 7:33 a.m., that number is down to 2,992.
