A former San Antonio student has stepped forward claiming they were sexually assaulted by their teacher multiple times over a decade ago. The alleged assault has landed the accused teacher behind bars.

Cecilia Mueller, 46, was arrested by the San Antonio Police Department on Monday, April 27, on charges of continuous sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony. She remains booked in the Bexar County Jail as of Tuesday, April 28, and is being held without bond.

KSAT reports that Mueller’s arrest occurred after a former student, who claims to be a victim of Mueller’s alleged assaults, told his story to SAPD last week.

Mueller is currently a fifth-grade teacher at Henderson Elementary School with Northside ISD. The district confirmed she has been employed with Northside ISD since August 20, 2007 and previously worked at Lewis Elementary School until June 2019, when she transitioned to Henderson. That 12-year period with Lewis is when the alleged assaults are believed to have occurred.

Northside ISD confirmed that Mueller has been placed on leave by NISD Employee Relations and the district is fully cooperating with SAPD’s investigation.

Henderson Principal Lillyana Hinojosa sent a letter to parents informing them of the arrest, adding:

“I understand that hearing this news is deeply unsettling. While I am unable to share specific details regarding the situation, I want to provide you with the assurance that Northside ISD is cooperating fully with the SAPD throughout their investigation. My focus, along with the rest of our staff, remains exactly where it should be; on the safety, well-being, and daily learning of your children,” Hinojosa wrote. “We are so grateful for the trust you place in us every day. Henderson is a special place because of the families who support it, and we will continue to work hard to maintain the safe and positive environment our students deserve.”

SAPD says it has reason to believe there could be additional victims. The police are asking any additional victims or anyone who may have been a victim to contact the Special Victims Unit at 210-207-2313.
