Jamar Champ’s estranged wife, reality TV personality Masika Kalysha, tells us she and their two children are still processing things.

HOUSTON, Texas — With her murdered son Daniel’s photo hanging on a necklace close to her heart, Alma Brown is now dealing with the tragic death of beloved nephew, Jamar Champ.

“I can’t believe it,” Brown said.

We first met Champ nearly four years ago with Brown when her son’s body was found weeks after a supposed friend, who was recently convicted, fatally shot him.

“Just pray for us because this is very hard,” Brown said. “We’re at this space again.”

Houston Police said Champ was struck and killed along the Katy Freeway early Tuesday morning by a wrong-way driver who also died.

The former college football player and entrepreneur was in a customized Cybertruck, also seen in recent photos.

“I surrendered everything to God,” Brown said. “I would never have thought this would be.”

Champ’s estranged wife is “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” personality Masika Kalysha, with whom he shared a young daughter.

Kalysha told us Champ also treated his stepdaughter as his own, even after their separation.

“I think it’s going to take a while to really, fully process things,” said Kalysha. “And, you know, grief, it is a journey.”

Despite their differences and disagreements, Kalysha said Champ was still a very present figure.

“You know, our three-year-old, I asked if she understood. She said ‘Yeah,'” Kalysha said. “I said ‘What do you understand?’ She said, ‘I want to go with daddy and God in heaven and get the candy.'”

Kalysha will be coming to Houston from Los Angeles to be with Champ’s family and help make arrangements for the man who meant so much to them.

“And nobody’s perfect,” Brown said. “However, he was perfect to us. So let us hold onto that perfect Jamar.”

While we’re still waiting to hear if the wrong way driver in this case was impaired, Champ’s family urged everyone to act responsibly in order to help avoid other incidents like this.

Avoiding a wrong-way crash

Houston police have shared four tips to help keep you safe from wrong-way drivers.

First, stay alert with your eyes looking ahead and down the road for potential problems.         Second, at night, try to stay in the right lane, as wrong-way drivers are likely to be driving in the left-most lane.Third, if a wrong way driver is headed towards you, slow down, move to the shoulder and then call 911.Police say your job is to save yourself and not try to stop the wrong way driver.
