Election Day is Saturday, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for residents to cast ballots in dozens of local races.
One important race is in State Senate District 4, in which Republican Brett Ligon and Democrat Ron C. Angeletti are vying to replace state Sen. Brandon Creighton, a Conroe Republican who was named chancellor of the Texas Tech University System last fall.
Ligon or Angeletti will fill Creighton’s seat until his term ends in January.

Friendswood ISD
Proposition A- The issuance of $26,000,000 bonds for the construction, acquisition and equipment of school buildings in the district, including improvements to critical infrastructure such as heating and air conditioning systems, plumbing, electrical, roofing, safety and security updates, conversion of existing spaces at Windsong Elementary and Bales Intermediate to create science labs, the purchase of necessary sites for school buildings and the purchase of new school buses, and the imposition of taxes sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds and the costs of any related credit agreements Friendswood Independent School District.

City of Rosenberg Crime Control & Prevention District
Proposition A – The creation of the Rosenberg Crime Control and Prevention District dedicated to crime reduction programs, the adoption of a proposed sales and use tax at a rate of 1/4 of 1% (0.25%), and to maintain the same overall sales tax rate in the city, the reduction of the sales and use tax currently levied by the Rosenberg Development Corporation from a rate of 1/2 of 1% to ¼ of 1%.
City of Rosenberg Charter Election
Proposition A – Shall Section 3.04. Compensation of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Rosenberg be amended to change the maximum allowable compensation to $600 per month for city council members and $700 per month for the position of mayor?
Proposition B – Shall Section 3.14. Comprehensive Plan of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Rosenberg be repealed in order to remove the requirement that the city council adopt, implement, and review a comprehensive plan?
Proposition C – Shall a new Section 3.15. Benefits of the Home Rule Charter of the city of Rosenberg be adopted in order to permit City Council members to participate in the city’s health insurance plan on the same terms as full-time city employees?
Proposition D – Shall Section 6.02. Form of recall, initiative and referendum petition, generally of the Home Rule Charter of the city of Rosenberg be amended in order to eliminate the requirement to file a notice of intent to circulate a petition with the city Secretary prior to circulating a petition for recall, initiative or referendum?
Proposition E – Shall Section 9.01. Power to borrow money of the Home Rule Charter of the city of Rosenberg be amended in order to require a unanimous vote of the entire city council to authorize or issue Certificates of Obligation?
