LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock mayor pro-tem Christy Martinez-Garcia will continue representing north and portions of central Lubbock, after securing victory Saturday.
She received 575 votes, 64.1 percent. Pat Kelly drew 322 votes, 35.9 percent.
“I just feel so blessed, humbled of course, I’m so grateful to God,” Martinez-Garcia said Saturday night.
She said she will make sure she is present as District 1’s representative.
When asked what she would say to the 35.9 percent of voters who chose Kelly, she responded “what was the final number?”
When the response was that she received 64 percent of the vote, Martinez-Garcia said, “there you go. So that’s what I’m going to tell them is that 64 percent, they have that confidence in me and I know that I’m going to work very hard.” She said she’ll work hard to get those who didn’t vote for her involved.
