Midland and Odessa may be the most famous cities in the Permian Basin, but numerous small towns make up the famous Texas oil patch. One such town owes its name to a historic figure from the Texas Revolution, but now has extra eyes due to its connection to Taylor Sheridan’s Landman.

What is Andrews, Texas, known for?
Andrews is named after Richard Andrews, the very first man killed in action during the Texas Revolution at the Battle of Concepcion on October 28, 1835, according to the city’s website.
The city is in the heart of the Permian Basin and, as such, has historic ties with the roughnecks of the oil patch. Landman creator and Texas Monthly writer Christian Wallace grew up in Andrews, and his experiences on the oil patch directly inspired the Paramount+ TV show, according to his website.
