The hiker was stranded overnight after suffering an injury, officials said. Around 9 a.m. on Saturday, crews were dispatched to Enchanted Rock for the injured hiker and quickly began providing medical care in a “challenging environment.”
The patient was safely hoisted and transported to a medical facility in stable condition with the assistance of Travis County STAR Flight, according to Fredericksburg Fire EMS. It’s unclear what the injury was or how it occurred. Officials also did not disclose the hiker’s identity.
“We’re grateful for the strong teamwork and coordination that helped bring this incident to a safe outcome,” officials wrote in their Facebook post.
The departments that helped with the rescue were Fredericksburg Fire EMS, the Willow City Volunteer Fire Department, Hamilton EMS and Texas State Park Rangers.
Enchanted Rock is a popular state park that covers 640 acres. It is known for its massive pink granite dome rising above Central Texas. One of the most challenging trails is the Summit Trail, which is a 0.8-mile climb that winds to the top of the park’s namesake. The park sits on Big Sandy Creek on the border of Gillespie and Llano counties. It is 18 miles north of Fredericksburg.
