According to MovingPlace’s April 2026 Hottest Zip Codes report, New Braunfels (78130) recorded 281 total moves in April, the highest count of any zip code nationwide. The Hill Country city, located along the I-35 corridor between San Antonio and Austin, continues to attract new residents with its location, relative affordability and steady pipeline of new housing.
New Braunfels landing in the No. 1 spot among U.S. cities in total move volume for April 2026 reflects a broader trend. While other states are seeing spikes in growth rate, Texas continues to lead in total relocation volume. Five of the top 10 zip codes for total move volume are in Texas, including fast-growing communities like Cypress, Leander and Pflugerville. These areas continue to attract buyers looking for new construction and relatively lower home prices compared to larger urban cores.
Texas also made a strong showing on that list. Lavon ranked No. 4 nationally, followed by Crandall at No. 6 and Justin at No. 9. Even urban Austin (78701) landed in the top 10 for a second straight month. Other markets are also gaining momentum. Aurora made a strong debut at No. 2 for moves per capita, while Nashville remained a consistent presence despite dropping from the top spot after two months.
Elsewhere, New York City (10040) posted the largest month-over-month increase in the dataset, jumping 267% from February to March. While the Sunbelt markets continue to draw new residents, Texas continues to lead in total moves, and a mix of smaller cities and suburbs captures the bulk of that growth.
