San Antonians heading through downtown on one major highway this month are advised to keep an eye out for lane closures as the bridges get a refresh. Here’s what to know.
The Texas Department of Transportation announced the closures on Thursday, April 30. According to the announcement on X, “starting Monday, May 4, alternating lane closures on the upper-level will take place on SB I-35 from I-37 to I-10 for bridge joint repairs.” Meanwhile, the lower level will remain open, the post said.
DriveTexas, the department’s road conditions map, gives a closer look at the impacted area. According to the map, the right two lanes of southbound I-35 from the Highway 281/37 connector all the way to the upper level I-10 connecter will be shut down 24/7 beginning at 9 p.m. on May 4. One lane will remain open on that upper level, and the lower level will be clear.
Locals can expect the closures to persist throughout the month, as the DriveTexas map gives an expected end date of Tuesday, May 26, at 9 p.m.
