SAN ANTONIO – With federal food assistance programs coming to a halt in a matter of days, the need for help is only growing.

A local nonprofit has reopened its food pantry.

Dwight Middle School is where part of Building D is home to Eagle’s Flight advocacy for their food pantry.

Eagle’s Flight made the decision to restock its food pantry here off West Southcross starting Thursday morning.

So many people here in San Antonio rely on their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, payments every month.

And since Republicans and Democrats cannot reach a deal to end the government shutdown, SNAP benefits are ending starting just two days from now, on November 1st.

According to the Texas Tribune, qualified Texans get an average of about $400 a month in SNAP benefits.

Of course, this is just one of many places all over the city offering food assistance.
