The Burton Panthers are heading to the University of Texas at Austin this month after a powerhouse performance at the 2A Region 4 Academic UIL Meet.
Outshining the vast majority of the field, Burton outscored 35 of the 53 schools in attendance, proving once again that they are a force to be reckoned with in the classroom.
Two senior standouts secured their tickets to the state finals with top-tier finishes:
Cadeyn Manley (Computer Science): For the second consecutive year, Manley is state-bound. He captured 2nd place in a highly competitive field, punching his ticket to Austin with an impressive score of 52 points.
Ethan Schubert (Physics): Schubert dominated the Physics division, clinching 1st place with a score of 16 points to secure his spot at the state level.
The Panthers’ Social Studies team also made waves, finishing as the 2nd place team overall with a collective 109 points. Led by Senior Devlin Douglas—who placed 7th individually with 52 points—the group will serve as state alternates. The team includes freshman James Jarvis (9th place), junior Jacob Brode (18th place) and senior Hunter Duffy (19th place).
Beyond the podium finishes, Burton saw strong individual efforts across multiple disciplines. Devlin Douglas finished 10th in Current Events. Ayden Vogel placed 14th in Accounting and Cadeyn Manley earned 14th place in Mathematics.
The qualifying Panthers will conclude their season on the big stage at the University of Texas campus in Austin on Monday, May 18.
