LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Registration is open for the Lubbock Police Department’s 2026 Youth Summer Police Academy, a weeklong program offering teens and young adults an introduction to law enforcement.
The academy is scheduled for Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 19, running daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to police. The department said the curriculum will emphasize physical fitness, teamwork and respect while providing participants with hands-on exposure to a range of police duties.
Planned activities include physical training, traffic safety and operations, patrol procedures, a K-9 unit demonstration and CPR instruction, police said.
The program is open to youth ages 14 to 20 who live in Lubbock County. Space is limited, and registration is set to close at 5 p.m. Friday, May 22.
Parents must complete required paperwork in advance, and a mandatory orientation for parents and cadets will be held before the academy begins, police said.
