The Murphy City Council addressed matters ranging from neighborhood parking concerns to a franchise renewal with Atmos Energy and the adoption of a new procurement card program aimed at improving purchasing efficiency.

Mayor Scott Bradley began the Tuesday, Oct. 21, meeting by asking City Manager Aretha Adams to update the council on complaints about overnight parking in the Maxwell Creek subdivision.

Adams said the problem arose after the neighboring city of Wylie enacted parking restrictions, prompting residents there to leave their vehicles across the street in Murphy.
