Arlington voters elected the Mayor and three City Council representatives in the May 2, 2026, election. A run-off election is set for June 13 between the top two vote-getters in the race for the open City Council District 8 At-Large seat.
More than 26,600 voters cast ballots in the Mayor and City Council election and on a proposition to renew the quarter-cent Street Maintenance Sales Tax for another eight years. Related article: Arlington Voters Approve Street Maintenance Sales Tax Renewal
According to unofficial vote totals from Tarrant County elections:
Mayor: Jim Ross was re-elected to his third and final term as Mayor with 50.04% of the vote. Challenger Steve Cavender received 39.45% of the vote. The race had three other challengers, Hunter Crow, Shaun Mallory and C. Phillip Dobson.
District 3: Incumbent Nikkie Hunter was re-elected to her third and final term as City Council District 3 representative with 73.79% of the vote. Challenger Kelly R. Burke received 26.21% of the vote.
District 4: Tom Ware was elected as the new City Council District 4 representative with 51.18% of the vote. Candidates Rojo Meixueiro and Lisa J. Ventura received 25.23% and 23.59% of the vote, respectively. District 4 Representative Andrew Piel held the seat for the past seven years as was term limited.
District 5: Brittany Garcia-Dumas was elected as the new City Council District 5 representative with 55.15% of the vote. Incumbent City Council Representative Rebecca Boxall received 44.85% of the vote. Boxall held the seat for the past five years.
District 8: None of the three candidates for the open City Council District 8 At-Large seat received more than 50% of the vote. Jason Shelton, who received 38.27% of the vote, and Melody Fowler, who received 46.91% of the vote, will face off in a run-off election on June 13. Corey Harris, the third candidate, received 14.82% of the vote. District 8 Representative Dr. Barbara Odom-Wesley held the seat for the past seven years and was term limited.
The Mayor and City Council representatives for Districts 3, 4 and 5 are scheduled to be sworn in during the City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 12.
