The San Antonio Spurs are off to a strong start this season with star player Victor Wembanyama. Now the team is hoping momentum on the court carries over to the ballot box.

Voters in Bexar County will decide next week whether to approve Proposition B, which would raise the hotel-occupancy tax to as much as 2% from 1.75% to help finance a new downtown arena for the Spurs. The team’s current home, the Frost Bank Center, sits on San Antonio’s East Side – an area outside of downtown that local officials also hope to revitalize. The proposal would authorize the Texas county to front as much as $311 million for the arena.
