SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — One man might be lucky to have a charge of driving while intoxicated (DWI) after his car was smashed by a train on the Northeast Side.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were called to the scene at Fratt Road and Interchange Parkway, just off I-35, around 4 a.m. on Monday. Crews with the San Antonio Fire Department also arrived to assist.
Investigators say the man had tried to cross the railroad tracks, but his car got stuck on them somehow. At one point, the man realized a train was headed his way and he ran off just before his car was hit behind the San Antonio Men’s Club.
SAPD says the man soon returned to the scene, at which point he was arrested and charged with suspicion of DWI.
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
