One of Dallas’ most celebrated soul food restaurants is headed to New York’s Times Square.
Kitchen + Kocktails will open a location in New York City this summer. “Some don’t start, some won’t stop. New York City 🍎 Welcome Home…,” a Tuesday Facebook post from the company read.
Owned by Kevin Kelley, Kitchen + Kocktails opened its first location in August 2020 on Elm Street in downtown Dallas. Kelley described it as an “elevated comfort food” restaurant, and menu items include shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, jerk lamb chops and fried chicken. Sides are candied yams, mac and cheese and collard greens.
The restaurant has six other locations across the country. The one in New York will add to that number, as well as another location in Boston — also set to open this summer, according to the restaurant’s website.
“We are an example that, with a community of support, praise, positivity, and prayer, many great things can happen,” the Facebook post said. “Since 2020, so many friends and supporters have backed Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley. Now and forever, in return, we will give our best to provide great food, drinks, and vibes.”
