LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Southcrest Christian School donated nearly $8,500 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest on Tuesday.
Students raised the money through a “Battle of the Spare Change” fundraiser earlier this year. Students from pre-K through 12th grade competed to gather the money, with the first and fifth grades taking the top prize.
Those students presented the check to the Ronald McDonald House on Tuesday morning.
Amy Williams with Southcrest Christian School said the kids have generous hearts and wanted to do something for the organization.
“The kids have super generous hearts and just really wanted to do something amazing for a wonderful organization and we’re so proud of their generous spirits,” Williams said.
The winners also get a trip to Adventure Park to celebrate.
The donation supports an organization that helps families across 68 counties when they need a place to stay while their children get medical care.
