WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Waco City Council on Tuesday learned Waffle House is finalizing plans to open a location in the city.
A formal announcement has not been made, and a location for the restaurant has not yet been revealed, but Waffle House allowed the City to reveal the news during its council meeting on May 5.
“That was the surprise we wanted to bring to you,” a city official told city council.
Waco District 3 Representative Josh Borderud called it a “great gift.”
“I don’t consider myself a sentimental man. I’m not often moved to tears or great showing of emotion but this here today, a breakfast loving Baptist like myself, to know we’re going to be united to other southern metros by this beautiful chain, which is generally peaceful in the daytime, this is a great gift. Thank you very much,” Borderud said during the meeting.
