If Eric Nadel isn’t calling a baseball game, chances are he’s scouting a band. The longtime Texas Rangers radio broadcaster is a music fanatic, combing clubs and festivals for groups that just might wind up playing his Dallas birthday-and-benefit concert.

For the 14th annual event, marking Nadel’s 75th trip around the sun, he’s tapped two high-energy acts: Sammy Rae & The Friends, led by rambunctious Brooklyn singer Samantha Bowers, and Chuck Prophet and His Cumbia Shoes, the California Latin-rock band whose album Wake the Dead landed on several best-of-2024 lists.

The concert benefits the Grant Halliburton Foundation, a Dallas nonprofit that provides mental health education and resources to children, teens and their families.
