SAN ANTONIO – A man who was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds at a Northwest Side motel has been identified.

On Thursday, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Victor Vasquez Mara, who died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest.

His death has been ruled a homicide.

Around 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the scene of a shooting at the Starlite Motel off Fredericksburg Road near Interstate 10.

When officers arrived, they found a man shot twice in the chest. Life-saving measures were started immediately until paramedics arrived.

Mara was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Two people who were inside the motel room were taken into custody.

According to police, investigators said the deadly shooting started with an argument between the victim and someone inside the motel room.

That suspect then allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire.

Police are still investigating the incident.
