LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Texas Tech Police Department has identified the driver who died in a single-vehicle crash early on Friday morning on Texas Tech University property.
Officers responded to a report of a crash in the 1500 block of Knoxville Ave. just before 1:30 a.m., police said. When they arrived, they found a man alone in the driver’s seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
The driver was identified as 21-year-old Anthony Cruz.
an early investigation says Cruz was traveling westbound on Knoxville Ave. at a high rate of speed when the car struck a reinforced brick wall surrounding a dumpster on the northeast side of the System Administration Building, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
