Comal ISD has hired a deputy superintendent.
Jason Gilstrap will begin serving as CISD’s deputy superintendent July 1. Gilstrap has 28 years of experience in public education, most recently serving as the superintendent for Floresville ISD, according to a district news release.
Gilstrap has also worked as an assistant principal, deputy superintendent and superintendent, according to the release. He said he was excited to serve CISD students, teachers, staff and families.

CISD Superintendent John E. Chapman III said they are thrilled to welcome Gilstrap to the district’s executive team.
“His experience and heart for public education will help us better serve our students and families as we continue to grow,” Chapman said in the release.
