LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A stark warm up for our Friday afternoon will continue in the upward snowball effect for Saturday. Temperatures will spike Saturday afternoon before a cold front knocks us back down to seasonal Sunday for Mother’s Day.

TONIGHT

Quiet and mild, overnight lows stay in the 50s for most with a light breeze of around 10 to 20 mph.

SATURDAY

Warm and breezy, high temperatures will climb a few more degrees from the upper 80s of Friday into the mid 90s of Saturday.

Winds will pick up a bit to around 10 to 20 mph as gusts reach around 30 mph.

SUNDAY

A morning cold front is going to be a major factor in Mother’s Day. Temperatures will drop from the 90s Saturday into the 70s for Sunday afternoon.

That drop in temperatures will be paired with a spike in winds, with gusts of more than 35 mph expected throughout much of the day-time hours. Skies will stay sunny all day.

EXTENDED WEATHER PATTERN

We’re now eyeing the middle of May over the next 7 days, and with it, another preview of Summer is heading our way.

High temperatures will quickly climb to the mid 90s for most of next week as another high pressure takes over our extended weather pattern after Mother’s Day weekend.
